The President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan

Born in Tashkent on May 9, 1945. Graduated from the Department of physics of the Tashkent State University with distinction specializing in nuclear physics (1968). In 1971 defended his PhD thesis (JINR, Dubna, Russia), in 1981 become Doctor in Physics and Mathematics. Used to work as junior scientific fellow of the Institute of Nuclear Physics (Tashkent), senior research fellow and head of lab of the Physical-and-Technical Institute (Tashkent), director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics (1990-2006, 2017-2020) (Tashkent), President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (2000-2005 and 2017 present).
As invited professor participated at the research activities at the Washington University (USA), Stanford University (USA) and JINR (Dubna, Russia), chaired Department of Nuclear Physics of the Tashkent State University (1995-2000).
Was a spokesman of two experiments conducted by international groups of scientists at accelerators of the Fermi national accelerator lab (USA) and TRIUMF (Vancouver, Canada). Nowadays participates in experiments at Large Hadron Collider at the CERN (Geneva, Switzerland) and the JINR (Dubna, Russia).
Was a supervisor of large projects on nuclear safety and on nuclear security and nuclear non-proliferation.
The main scientific and organizational activities dedicated to physics of elementary particles, nuclear physics, application of nuclear technologies in industry, agriculture and medicine.
Published more than 400 scientific papers, including 3 monographs has 20 patents. Supervised 9 Doctors of Sciences and over 30 PhD thesises.
Scientist in the field of physics of nuclei and elementary particles, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics (1981), Professor (1987), Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (1994), Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (2000). The winner of the Uzbekistan State prize in science and technology (1983), the winner of the ECO International prize (2004). Member of the American Physical Society, Fellow of the Indiana University (USA), Washington University (USA) and Cambridge University (UK), Academician of the Islamic Academy of Sciences (IAS), Honored Doctor of the Joint Institute of Nuclear Studies (Dubna, Russia), Academician of the International Association of the Academies of Sciences (IAAS), Foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, member of the Supreme Attestation Commission of the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation.
Scientific adviser at the International Atomic Energy Agency (Vienna, Austria), senior research fellow of the JINR (1995-2005 and 2020 present) (Dubna, Russia) member and senator of the Parliament of the Republic of Uzbekistan (2001-2005 and 2020 present). Awarded with the gold medal of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan.
Awarded the orders "Mehnat Shukhrati" and "Fidokorona Khizmatlari Uchun", Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
