In view of implementation of the tasks specified by the National Program for training personnel, intensifying the integration of science and education and more effective use of scientific-technical potential of academic science in preparation of highly-qualified specialists, ensuring broad participation of scientists in the educational process of higher education institutions, active involvement of talented young people from Masters and Bachelor-degree holders in research and development, and to ensure continuity between the stages of undergraduate and postgraduate education, a joint Resolution of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Integration of Science and Education” (2006)
This Resolution served the basis for achieving joint integration activities of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of Uzbekistan, successfully launched in 2006/2007 academic year.
Leading scientists and experts from many academic institutions are involved in teaching at universities in the format of lecturing and rendering practical classes in special courses for graduate students, supervising diploma projects, and Master’s degree theses. Availability of a good material resources base and scientific equipment in the institutes of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and ongoing high-level scientific research are indispensable conditions for writing graduation papers (Diploma works) and Master’s theses by university students in the institutes of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
In various universities and research institutes of the Academy of Sciences, there have been established and successfully operate within a number of years the advanced forms of interaction between science and education, including a number of joint training and research centers, fundamental laboratories and basic branches of chairs that provide a higher-quality learning process on specialties relevant to the republic, as well as participation of students in research activity of institutions. For instance, the affiliated branch of specialized department of Physiology and Biophysics of the Institute Bioorganic Chemistry named after academician A.S.Sadikov, Faculty of Biology, National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, was established and it is successfully functioning now. Every year scientific staff-members of the AS RUz supervise numerous Master’s theses and final qualifying papers for Bachelor’s degree from the leading universities of the country.
A telling illustration of successful integration of academic research and education is co-operation of Tashkent State Technical University with the Institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Many lectures, Masters and Bachelors of TashGTU are involved in the research work of a number of academic Institutions: Physical Technical Institute, Institute of Ion-Plasma and Laser Technology, Institute of Power Engineering and Automation, Institute of Geology and Geophysics of Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, etc.
Many scientists of these institutions are actively involved in the teaching process of TashGTU, design and development of training programs for new specialties, publication of educational materials and textbooks, holding graduation examinations, supervising qualification and final works of undergraduates for Bachelor’s degree and Master’s thesis, as well as in formulation and pursuance of research investigation together with the staff-members of the basic specialized departments and their students.
Most talented graduates are invited to work in academic institutions, and enter a school of postgraduate PhD - studies, what provides the education process continuing in the chain “University – Research Institute”.
